Joe Stead began singing folk songs in the 1950's.

Referred to as a legend by some he is certainly a folklorist of some repute on numerous aspects of folklore. He has met and sung with Paul Robeson and Pete Seeger.

He was invited to sing in Chile in South America at the First Valparaiso Festival of the Sea. Together with Kimber's Men he appears frequently at festivals all over Great Britain.

Professional performer since 1966.
